About

Dekita advocates participatory uses of Web applications in EFL/ESL teaching; we favor open approaches to language learning in which students get to engage the public Web instead of being locked into narrowly circumscribed online spaces.

Dekita highlights and showcases the writings and other artefacts shared online by EFL/ESL students involved in such open courses. The site also points out and discusses issues related to open sharing in language learning contexts.

In addition, Dekita serves as a means for learners, educators, and other interested parties to locate courses and students worldwide: The Dekita Exchange offers a continuously updated list of relevant courses while the Orchard provides immediate access to the artefacts produced in such courses and to the conversations that emerge from them.

If you have any links you’d like us to know about or would like to talk to us privately, feel free to drop us a line.

Dekita.org is run by Barbara Dieu, Aaron Campbell and Rudolf Ammann.

The site is put together in mostly valid XHTML 1.0 and CSS, runs on Textpattern and sports a custom design especially created for it. It is hosted at Textdrive and is best viewed in a up-to-date browser.

The site’s header photos are cropped from the work of Bee, Josef, and Rudolf.
