The most popular spectator sports are football and ice hockey. The three most popular football teams in the Stockholm region are AIK, Hammarby IF and DjurgÃ¥rdens IF. In ice hockey, Stockholm’s highest rated team is DjurgÃ¥rdens IF, in football AIK& DjurgÃ¥rdensIF&Hammarby And in handball the highest rated team is Hammarby.
Historically, the city was the host of the 1912 Summer Olympics. From those days stem the Stockholms Olympiastadion which has since hosted numerous sports events, notably football and athletics, and is the current home arena of Djurgårdens IF. For the ice hockey team, the home arena is Stockholm Globe Arena, one of the largest spherical building in the world, but it is also hosting concerts and other events.
Stockholm also hosted all but one of the Nordic Games, a winter multi-sport event that predated the Winter Olympics.
Apart from being a large city with an active cultural life, Stockholm, as Sweden’s capital, houses many national cultural institutions. There are two UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Stockholm area: the Royal Palace Drottningholm (within Ekerö Municipality) and the SkogskyrkogÃ¥rden(The Woodland Cemetery).
Stockholm was the 1998 European City of Culture.
Stockholm has an extensive public transport system. It consists of the Stockholm Metro (Tunnelbanan); three regional/suburban rail systems: commuter rail(pendeltåg), Roslagsbanan, and Saltsjöbanan; three light rail systems: Nockebybanan, Lidingöbanan, and Tvärbanan; and a large number of bus lines.

Vancouver’s streetcar system began on 28 June 1890 and ran from the (first) Granville Street Bridge to Westminster Avenue (now Main Street). Less than a year later, the Westminster and Vancouver Tramway Company began operating Canada’s first interurban line between the two cities, which encouraged residential neighbourhoods outside the central core to develop.

  • Why I want to go to Melbourne

    Posted: November 29th, 2007, 12:43pm GMT by charlie29

Melbourne is known as an Australian cultural and sport capital.
The choice was based on cultural attributes, climate, cost of living, and social conditions such as crime rates and health care, in 2002.
The city celebrates a wide variety of annual cultural events, performing arts and architecture. Melbourne is also considered to be Australia’s live music capital with a large proportion of successful Australian artists emerging from the Melbourne live music scene.
Melbourne is home to some of the nation’s oldest educational institutions, including the oldest Law (1857), Engineering (1860), Medical (1862), Dental(1897) and Music(1891) schools, all at the University of Melbourne. The University of Melbourne is also the oldest university in Victoria and the second oldest university in Australia.
Melbourne has an integrated public transportsystem known as Metlink, originally laid out late in the 19th century when trains and trams were the primary methods of travelling to the suburbs.

  • Why I recommend São Paulo to visitors

    Posted: August 27th, 2007, 12:43pm GMT by charlie29

São Paulo is a perfect city, there’s all you want (parks, restaurants, bars, parties, etc…). It’s also a very lively city, so you are never bored, you have always something to do! The best spaces to visit are the Ibirapuera park, the zoo. the Masp museum and the 25th march avenue. However there’s some violence and you need to be careful. But it still is the best city.

Human action against natureOriginally uploaded by Alee LoV RiO !

I choose this photo because we can see a contrast between the humans, that changed the world to construct the buildings and the animals, that adept themselves with the environment.
The catch phrase is too show to the world that we are killing the world, but we can change living like this fish.

There are nice beaches, good food and the weather is amazingly hot. We can say that it is heaven.
In addition to this, all the people who have been there always want to go back.
