WordPress Peeve: Snapshots
Posted January 30th, 2008 by Rudolf
Please indulge me while I obsess over details that, in the scheme of things, are trivial, but Snapshots support being turned on by default in Wordpress.com blogs strikes me as obnoxiously intrusive.
Snapshots are the page previews that pop up when you mouse over an external link on an uncustomised WordPress blog: they’re intrusive because they’re big, ugly, clunky and slow to load. They’re messy. They’re throwbacks to the bad old times before popup blockers.
To turn them off, go to Presentation > Extras in your WordPress blog’s admin interface and untick the "Enable Snap Shots on this blog" box.

Ooh, I like them!
It saves me clicking to find out what they are and as an extra bonus it makes me keep my hand off the mouse. If it’d asked whether I want snapshots on, I would’ve probably not known what it is and declined.

Looks like you need the Snapshots add-on, then.
